The words in this article are from my perspective.
The tools platform for business.govt.nz was designed and developed by DNA Design with collaboration with the team at MBIE.
This was a very large scale project that I worked on when I was very new to React. I had very little experience with ES6 and was required to help out.
The best way for me to help out was to help build the front end. We used a pattern library module to work on building components as the project evolved.
This project taught me a lot about working with designers, working in react and really cemented my knowledge in BEM.
While helping out with the front end was very beneficial, Id also helped to make improvements to some of the other apps over time to help strengthen my experience in react.
I have helped out with making small improvements to the apps, adding components such as the video block component used in the Climate Action Toolkit.
The video block component taught me about functional components, adding in types and queries for graphql and about using state for a component.
This was just enough for me to run away and start developing some personal projects to improve my knowledge. Which is exactly what I did.
